Actually, I asked myself that question-- what ESL Cloud is. Maybe telling how it started will shed light for both of us.

I teach ESL in Chicagoland at 2 colleges and wanted to develop a website where my students could practice material covered in class. I made a free website (now in a web grave) and filled it with links to some of the greatest online English exercise websites around.

The more I did this, and out of a growing apprehension about not being able to "save" work I do (free websites have all the control over your content) the more I realized that I should just create a website of my own for my students' use.

Then ESL Cloud was conceived--though the name was still in the realm of "naught." Around that time, a breakthrough happened, I stumbled upon the very software some of these ESL GIANT websites use, and now I will slowly, as lessons demand, begin developing my own exercises-- not just have links to other folks' sites.

It's a good feeling, but a lot of unpaid work and hours of eye-strain at the computer.

Peace out!
